Oulton Park Motor Circuit is situated on the Oulton Estate. During the Second World War, Oulton Park’s grounds were used as one of the staging camps for the US Army, under the command of General Patton prior to the Normandy landings in 1944. The Oulton Race circuit can be adapted for multiple configurations. The main international circuit is 2.692 miles (4.307 km) and the shorter “Foster’s” Circuit, has a length of 1.66 miles (2.7 km)

Oulton Park Knickerbrook Corner – The Knickerbrook corner is named after an event that occurred when the British demolition expert and race fan, Blaster Bates, who was removing tree stumps with dynamite close to the corner with a colleague.
After the explosion, a courting couple were seen to running off at speed from a nearby a bush. On the closer investigation, the pair discovered some lady’s underwear in the brook and this resulted in the name of the corner.

British GT Championship
The British GT Championship held between the 7th & 10th of April 2023 is a sports car racing series based in the United Kingdom and runs events at Oulton Park. The series was originally created by the British Racing Drivers’ Club in 1993 and, for its first two seasons, was known as the National Sports GT Challenge.
Touring Car Championship
The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship held between the 17th & 18th of June 2023 is a touring car racing series held each year in the United Kingdom and uses Oulton Park as a venue, currently organised and administered by TOCA. It was first established in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship.

I can do this! It’s only a car (that I won’t be driving) and it’ll be no more than 20 minutes or so around a racetrack. Granted… there are one or two sharp bends but it’s a circular racetrack and anyway, I’ll be in the experienced hands of Calum Lockie.
Easy-peasy I thought as I was trussed into the passenger seat then it slowly dawned on me that this was very, very REAL. This was no ordinary car. This was a mean souped-up Porsche 911 and Calum wasn’t going to take any prisoners. He didn’t.

Hanging on for grim death we achieved a staggering 155mph during what was one of the most exciting, exhilarating and terrifying bucket list experiences of a lifetime.
Honestly, this is something we all need to do. Never mind fairground rides and the like. This was the speed that was REAL and in the hands of someone whose experience is REAL, and I will never ever watch motor racing or a car chase again without reliving the total thrill of that 20 minutes around a windswept hill known as Thruxton.
